DUP’s Gregory Campbell photographed in Heathrow Airport not wearing mask over mouth or nose

A photograph has emerged of DUP MP for East Londonderry, Gregory Campbell, not wearing a face-covering correctly in Heathrow Airport.

The photo was taken by a member of the public catching a flight to Belfast City George Best Airport on Thursday evening.

The member of the public claimed he observed Mr. Campbell with no mask covering his mouth and nose for approximately 15 minutes.

Individuals can be fined in England if they do not wear a face-covering on public transport and in public spaces like airports.

The image was shared with and published online by The Stephen Nolan Show on BBC Radio Ulster.

Mr. Campbell was contacted by The Stephen Nolan Show before the story was published.

On learning about the photograph, Mr. Campbell posted a statement online via his personal Facebook profile.

“Just a reminder folks of the need to keep our face coverings on,” said Mr. Campbell.

“I know it can be difficult to do it every time you’re supposed to, I understand a picture is on social media of me with face covering down on my chin.

“We all need to keep our discipline to get through the pandemic, it’s too serious for an entertainment programme.

“Keep safe, don’t let your guard down, own up when you do like I’m doing. There’s enough people letting their mask slip without me joining them,” said Mr. Campbell.
