‘I can’t stay here’ - Donald Trump’s special envoy to Northern Ireland Mick Mulvaney resigns after MAGA mob storm US Capitol

Mr. Mulvaney told US news network, CNBC, that he contacted Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, to inform him of his decision to resign.
“I called Mike Pompeo last night to let him know I was resigning from that. I can’t do it. I can’t stay,” said Mr. Mulvaney.

Hide AdHe added: “Those who choose to stay, and I have talked with some of them, are choosing to stay because they’re worried the President might put someone worse in.”
Mr. Mulvaney, who served as President Trump’s White House Chief of Staff from January 2, 2019 – March 31, 2020, was named United States Special Envoy for Northern Ireland on May 1, 2020.
Four people died after thousands of Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol while Congress met inside for a joint session to certify President-elect, Joe Biden’s Electoral College win.
One of the deceased was 35 year-old US air-force veteran and Trump supporter, Ashli Babbitt, who was shot inside the US Capitol
The three other people died of natural causes.

Congress was reconvened and in the early hours of Thursday morning, vice-President Mike Pence, officially certified President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College win.
