Twitter ban former TUV election candidate David Vance over tweet sent to Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford

Right-wing blogger, David Vance, had his profile suspended on Wednesday after violating Twitter’s rules.

Mr. Vance, who, as a TUV candidate, received less than six per cent (1,856) of votes cast in East Belfast in the 2010 general election, mentioned 22 year-old Marcus Rashford in a tweet that angered and offended many.

Mr. Vance’s tweet came after Kevin Hollinrake, a Conservative MP for Thirsk and Malton said: “Where they can, it’s a parents job to feed their children.”

Marcus Rashford replied to Mr. Hollinrake saying: “I would urge you to talk to families before tweeting.

“To this day I haven’t met one parent who hasn’t wanted or felt the responsibility to feed their children,” said Mr. Rashford.

It was at this time that Mr. Vance decided to weigh in with a tweet of his own.

“Hello @marcusrashford, unfortunately there is a disproportionate problem in the (UK) Afro- Caribbean community of black men abandoning their pregnant girlfriends, never to be seen again. In order to understand your comment below, can you confirm whether you have ever met your father?,” tweeted Mr. Vance.

Mr. Vance’s tweet was flagged as having violated Twitter rules concerning hateful content and had his account suspended.

Mr. Vance then took to Parler (a somewhat similar social network to Twitter) to tell his followers about what happened.

“Well then, guess what... I was trending on UK Twitter yesterday as the left wing mob came for me,” wrote Mr. Vance.

“The abuse sent me [sic] way was incredible, yet Twitter froze my account, and has subsequently suspended my periscope channel.

“I contrast the hate I get there with the decency here and recognise that I should be using Parler for my social media engagement.”
