Prices for sheep at Hilltown continue to increase

At the sheep sale at Hilltown on Saturday mart prices continued to increase with great demand for all grades.

Prices showed a marked improvement with finished lambs reaching £88 for 27 kilos twice (326p per kilo), £87 for 25 kilos (348p per kilo), £83 for 24 kilos (346p per kilo), £81 for 23 kilos (352p per kilo).

Store lambs reached 360p per kilo for a choice pen of 18 kilo making £68 from a Ballynahinch farm, followed by £64 for 18 kilos (356p per kilo).

Fat ewes again met a super trade with an increased entry on offer and reached £94 for a choice pen from a Downpatrick farmer.

Several pens made £90 each for Dromore and Dromara farmers.

Main range was from £88 to £94 each.
