PSNI treat Markethill body as hit-and-run

Police are treating the discovery of a body at the roadside near Markethill this morning as a hit-and-run.

It happened in the Shillinghill Road area of Armagh.

Detective Inspector Colin Patterson said: “A man’s body was found lying in the road shortly before 7am this morning. We are currently working to establish the circumstances surrounding the death, however, at this stage we believe this may have been as a result of a hit and run RTC. I would particularly like to speak to anyone who can help us with our enquiries. I would appeal to them to contact Police at Armagh on the non-emergency number 101.”

Ulster Unionist representative for Newry and Armagh, Danny Kennedy MLA, has described how the discovery just outside Markethill has been “a matter of great concern to the local community”.
