Jonathan Adair, 32, known as ‘Mad Pup’, was found dead at a house in Troon on Saturday.

The Adair family settled in Ayrshire after Johnny Adair – formerly a major figure in the UDA, based in Belfast’s lower Shankill – was forced to flee his home in Belfast during a loyalist feud.

It is understood that Jonathan Adair had recently been released from jail.

He had been convicted over a decade ago of selling heroin.

Last December, the Scottish newspaper the Daily Record said he had been jailed for flouting a driving ban, and a year before that it said he had been jailed for “running amok” in a flat after a woman refused to sell him cannabis.
