Teebane Memorial: Floral tributes damaged in attack

A PSNI spokesman said it was believed that a number of wreaths and flowers laid at the memorial were thrown across the Drum Road between 1.30am and 7.30am.
The tributes were then “destroyed by passing vehicles”.
Eight workmen were killed in the Provisional IRA bomb attack on January 17 1992 at the Teebane crossroads on the Drum Road, the main route between Omagh and Cookstown.

UUP Councillor for Mid Ulster Trevor Wilson slammed the “act of vandalism” adding that the same site has been attacked many times.
“There is no place in society for attacks like this and I would appeal for anyone with information to bring it to the police,” he said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police in Magherafelt on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
