Late on Monday night, the PSNI said the victim was believed to be 17 years old, and had been shot in the leg in Carlisle Square, part of the republican-dominated New Lodge area.

His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Just before 1am on Monday, a man in his 20s was shot as he walked along an alleyway between Sheridan Street and Donore Court, also in the New Lodge.

Police said he was “shot a number of times to the body”.
