Three charged after west Belfast police car chase

Two males and a female teenager were charged with a number of offences after a car made off from police in west Belfast.

The incident happened on August 19 (Friday).

During the incident police saw a red coloured Renault car travelling at speed along the Springfield Road shortly before 9.30pm and signalled for it to stop.

The car failed to stop and police followed it through the Cluain Mor Estate before it was abandoned on Beechmount Parade.

A PSNI spokesman said two of the individuals were observed exiting the vehicle and were arrested by police nearby, while the third was arrested after being located in the rear of the vehicle.

A 35-year-old male, 33-year-old male, was charged with disorderly behaviour and obstructing police after the incident. He was scheduled to appear in Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Sunday.

A 33 year old male has been charged with disorderly behaviour and obstructing police.

He is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court on 16 September.

He has also been returned to prison after his licence was revoked.

Meanwhile a 16-year-old female was charged with assault on police and resisting police.

She is expected to appear before Belfast Youth Court on September 14.

As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
