Convoy of tractors spotted on Sydenham Bypass in east Belfast as time of mooted fuel rallies draws near

A convoy of tractors has been seen on the Sydenham Bypass in east Belfast.

It comes ahead of a series of rallies which have been advertised at locations across Northern Ireland, to protest the rising price of fuel.

The slow-moving vehicles were heading city-bound.

Meanwhile the government webpage allowing the public to monitor traffic flows is down.

The TrafficWatchNI camera page, which carries live footage from scores of roadside cameras across the Province, is now simply delivering the message: “503 Service Temporarily Unavailable.”

The locations widely circulated for the protests are:

Sprucefield in Co Down;

The Westlink in Belfast;

Sandyknowes roundabout in Newtownabbey;

Ballygawley roundabout;

Omagh town centre;

New Toome Bridge in Toomebridge;

Larne Harbour;

and Nutts Corner in south Antrim.

There are also rumours of protests in Newry and Bangor too.

More as it develops.
