Hearts broken after death of NI man in Australia - fundraiser has already raised £72K - ‘tragedy made so much worse by COVID-19 restrictions’

Around £72K has been raised online after the tragic death of Rory Bradley in Australia.

The fundraiser - started by Linda Bradley - has now raised almost £72K in three days.

The fundraiser titled ‘Remembering Rory Bradley’ says: “The family and friends of Rory Bradley are devastated to learn today of his tragic death in Australia

“As a small measure of support for Gerald and Susan we have set up a Go Fund Me page to help with the expenses”.

Mr Bradley came from Mountfield in Omagh, Co Tyrone,

Comments online include: “We will never forget you Rory...your craic and friendship will be truely missed. RIP friend. Marty and Yvonne”.

Local Independent Councillor Emmet McAleer - Independent Councillor, Mid-Tyrone, Fermanagh & Omagh District Council - said he knew Mr Bradley.

He said his family had travelled out to Australia after was admitted to ICU when he became ill.

He added that it was his understanding that Rory became ill last Saturday - and then the GoFundMe page was set up to assist the family with expenses of travel - and tragically taking his body home to Omagh.

“On top of the tragedy it is awful to have all that travel and COVID-19 restrictions to cope with as well,” he said.

“Rory was around 33-years-old and he was very popular in the area. Everyone knew him.

“He would have been a joiner by trade at home and he was doing the same sort of thing in Australia. He had the attraction of working in the sun.

“It is very. very sad for the Bradley family - and the circumstances make it so much worse”.
