NI Snow Alert: Yellow status weather warning of snow and ice issued - rain, hail and snow due Tuesday and Wednesday

A yellow status Northern Ireland weather warning of snow and ice has been issued by the Met Office.

This weather warning was issued on Tuesday morning and applies to all of Northern Ireland.

The alert is valid between 8.00pm on Tuesday and 10.00am on Wednesday.

“Wintry showers are expected to continue through Tuesday night and Wednesday morning leaving surfaces wet and leading to icy stretches developing on untreated surfaces,” reads the warning on the official Met Office website.

“These showers will fall as a mixture of rain, hail and snow at times, the snow mostly over higher ground.

“Some places are likely to see 1-3 cm of snow, mainly above 200 m, with 4-8 cm possible over the higher ground in northwest England, Wales and west Scotland.”
