Trial for man accused of kicking ex-partner out of window
Joseph Henry Smyth, 31, faces counts of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent, causing unnecessary suffering to an animal and assault on police.
The charges relate to an alleged hour-long outburst of violence at the woman’s south Belfast home on September 14 last year.

Hide AdIt was previously disclosed that she sustained a fractured spine and broken nose during the incident on Tates Avenue.
The dog has since made a full recovery.
Smyth, of Hillhead Cottages on the city’s Shaws Road, appeared before Belfast Magistates’ Court for preliminary enquiry proceedings.
He was returned for Crown Court trial on a date to be fixed, the Courts Service confirmed.
Smyth was released on continuing bail until this proceedings get under way.

Hide AdAs part of those conditions he must have no contact with the alleged victim.
With a curfew, electronic tagging and prohibition on alcohol in place, he remains banned from entering the Tates Avenue area.
