Tributes for '˜beautiful angel' Ellie Nicholl

Tributes have poured in for eight-year-old Ellie Nicholl who passed away after battling a rare neurological condition.

The youngster, who had attended St Patrick’s Primary school in Mullanskea near Enniskillen, died in the South West Acute Hospital on Wednesday morning.

A post on ‘Ellie’s Page’ said: “This morning our beautiful angel Ellie got her wings after a long and difficult fight in this earthly world. We know that she is now free and bound no more by her illness and is already looking down on us.

“Memories of Ellie, her beautiful smile and tremendous courage will keep us brave in the journey ahead without her. xxx”

And today another post on ‘Ellie’s Page’ told of how grateful her family were at the multitude of “kind messages” they have received.

“Thank you everyone for your kind messages, they are much appreciated and will be a source of comfort to the family.

Ellie’s final journey will take place tomorrow morning to St Joseph’s, Cradien for 12pm, followed by funeral mass and then afterwards to Cross Cemetery.

“The house will be private from 10pm onwards tonight.”

Tributes to the schoolgirl on Facebook read: “Oh love! We will miss your beautiful smiles. Rest in peace sweet girl. Lots of love from your Savannah Nurses xxxxx”

Another message said: “Sleep tight angel thoughts are with your family at this sad time”.

Ellie had suffered a slow progressive neurological condition called H-ABC syndrome. The condition is very rare and at the time of her diagnosis She was only the 22nd person in the world with the syndrome.

Research by a team in the US had discovered the faulty gene which had caused the condition and her family and wellwishers raised thousands of pounds to help fund further research.

Ellie is survived by her parents Billy and Ciara, older brother Arran and wider family circle.
