Two arrested after £1M herbal cannabis seized in Belfast

Two men gave been arrested after herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of £1m was seized in Belfast.

Police found the cache of drugs as they carried out a stop and search operation in the Dargan Road area last evening (Tuesday 26 January).

The two men arrested - aged 36-years and 24-years - have both been arrested on suspicion of possession of a class B drug with intent to supply and are currently assisting police with their inquiries.

Detective Inspector Keith Gawley said: “This seizure and investigation are at a very early stage but at this time I believe the suspected drugs to have an estimated value of approximately £1 million. This was a pro-active police operation which has stopped a huge amount of drugs from entering communities throughout Northern Ireland.

“I would ask anyone who may have any information about illegal drugs in their area to support us in our aim to get drugs off the streets and contact us on the non-emergency number 101.
