The man who was driving the car on Armagh Road (a blue Seat) was the fatal victim.

Two passengers were hospitalised due to the crash, which happened at about 11.45pm on Tuesday.

The PSNI have asked that anyone who was in the area and witnessed the collision, or who captured it on their dashcam, gets in touch by dialling 101 and quoting reference number 2065 of 08/09/20.

The second significant crash on Tuesday happened on the Gosford Road in the south-east of the Province.

Although the PSNI described the area as being “Newry”, it is actually quite far from the city; the Gosford Road runs from Markethill towards Mullaghglass.

It was a two-vehicle crash, shortly after 3pm, involving a blue Volkswagen Golf and a black Volkswagen Passat.

In total six people were injured, with one man aged in his 30s, two women in their 30s, an 18-year-old woman and two young children taken to hospital following the incident.

A 39-year-old woman, believed to be the driver of the Passat, and one of the young children who was in the Golf, were described as being in a critical-but-stable condition shortly before noon today.

The four others remained in hospital with their injuries.
