Two-year-old boy dies after Londonderry collision

A two-year-old boy has died in Londonderry after being struck by a car.

A PSNI officer confirmed that the youngster died after being struck by a car on the Lone Moor Road this afternoon.

The collision happened around 1.15pm and involved a silver coloured Citroen Picasso car.

The driver of the car has been spoken to by police and inquiries are currently ongoing. The road remains closed at this time.

Inspector David McIlwaine has appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision or who has any information which could assist police with their enquiries to contact Strand Road on 101.
