Viable device found in Markets area of Belfast

A security alert in the Markets area of Belfast ended this morning shortly before 9am.
Police in attendance at a security alert in the Stanfield Place area of the Markets in south Belfast after a suspicious object around 11pm.

A viable device was taken away for further investigation.

Inspector Ian McCormick said: “The security alert in Stanfield Place in the Markets area of Belfast has finished.

“ATO attended the scene and have described the suspicious object as a viable device.

“It has been taken away for further examination.”
