Woman arrested in Toomebridge murder probe released

A woman who was arrested by police probing the killing of John McDonagh has been released.

Detectives from Serious Crime Branch investigating the death of the 28-year-old from Castledawson outside a pub on the Hillhead Road near Toombridge, just to the north of Lough Neagh, announced they had arrested the 33-year-old on Saturday.

She was questioned in Lurgan police station.

Mr McDonagh died as a result of the incident in the early hours of Sunday, January 10.

Police announced the woman’s release on the morning of Sunday, January 17.

Mr McDonagh’s funeral is to be held in Coalisland today (Sunday).
