Woman in critical condition after she is struck by car in Belfast

A woman is in a critical condition following a serious road traffic collision in Belfast.

Police are investigating the incident on the Stewartstown Road in Belfast on Friday.

A female pedestrian was struck by a black Nissan Leaf at around 6.15pm close to Suffolk Day Centre.

She was taken to hospital where her condition is described as critical.

The driver of the car, a 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily injury and has since been released on bail to return at a future date.

Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of the Stewartstown Road at around 6pm yesterday and witnessed the collision, or anyone who may have captured phone or dash-cam footage. Please call 101, quoting reference 1545 05/06/20.
