Woman in 80s left 'badly shaken' after attempted handbag snatch ordeal in Belfast

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman in hers 80s fended off a would-be robber who tried to snatch her handbag in Belfast yesterday.

The PSNI said they received a report of the incident, which took place on on Kings Road, around 12.55pm on Monday (April 24).

Sergeant Alexander said: “A woman in her 80s was exiting a car when a male described as being of a slim build and approximately 5’10 attempted to steal her handbag. The female victim refused to let go of her handbag and the male quickly made off from the scene.

"The woman received bruising to her arm as a result of the incident and was left badly shaken."

We are appealing to anyone that may have any information regarding this incident to contact Strandtown Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 506 of the 24/04/17.
