Woman sexually assaulted in Co Down park

A woman has suffered a sexual assault while walking in a Co Down park.

The attack took place at Mourne Park in Kilkeel around 5.30pm on Thursday.

Police say the assailant pulled the woman to the ground before assaulting her. He is described as in his early 30s, 5’6” tall with swarthy skin, wearing a dark baseball cap and a blue top.

A PSNI spokesman said: “We are appealing for witnesses and we are asking anyone who may have been in the park at around the time of the assault to get in touch with police in Newry by calling 101, quoting reference number 991 21/07/16.”
