Garnier Summer Body, the gradual tan moisturiser I keep coming back to, is now 50% off.
The summer weather has arrived - but many of us still want that healthy, sun-kissed glow without having to wait for a natural tan to develop.
That’s part of the reason why I started using gradual tan moisturisers in the first place. The other reason being with the UK's famously unpredictable weather, achieving a natural tan is not always easy.
I wanted something simple that would give me a natural-looking glow without the fuss of a full fake tan routine, and after trying different options, I found one I keep returning to: Garnier Summer Body Gradual Tan Moisturiser.
I’ll be stocking up again very soon because it has 50% off on Amazon again. With summer seeminggly beginning this May bank holiday weekend, it feels like a good time to grab it while it is discounted and keep that sun-kissed look going, whatever the great British weather decides to do next.
To be honest, I started using Garnier Summer Body Gradual Tan Moisturiser a couple of years ago by chance. I stumbled across it when it was previously on sale and thought that, at less than a tenner, I’d give it a go.
I had been looking for a way to give myself a tan, but I didn’t want to spend a fortune and I wanted something more subtle and natural looking than a lot of self-tanning products can be.
I wanted people to think I’d just got back from a week in Spain when I was wearing it, not that I’d severely overdone it on a sunbed. Plus, I wanted something that would be kind to my skin. Let’s be honest, sunbeds - and even the natural sunlight - aren’t actually good for your skin.
But, there’s no potentially harmful UV light involved with a moisturiser. In fact, as well as giving a nice tan Garnier Summer Body Gradual Tan Moisturiser also keeps your skin hydrated and smooth.
I was impressed as soon as I opened the bottle; the smell is absolutely divine - again a difference to so many other self-tan products which don’t have an appealing smell at all. It smells like summer to me.
After the first application of Garnier Summer Body Gradual Tan Moisturiser I noticed a difference in my skin tone. I can’t comment on the precise amount of time that it takes for moisturiser to work its magic as I’ve got in to the routine of putting it on after my evening shower and then going to bed one to two hours later.
All I know is I wake up the next morning - so between nine and 11 hours later - and I’m glowing. My skin looks radiant and I feel radiant as well.
As with all moisturisers, whether they have tanning capabilities or not, I’d advise waiting a little while after application before getting dressed to allow for it to properly sink into the skin. But, I only wait about five minutes and I’ve never had an issue with the moisturiser transferring to clothing (or pyjamas in my case) or clothing having an orange/brown stain on - again, another common issue with some self-tan products.
Don’t just take my word for it either. My boyfriend Callum was shocked at just how quickly the Garnier Summer Body Gradual Tan Moisturiser worked. One morning after application the previous night he told me: “Wow, your skin actually does look really tanned.”

Plenty of other Amazon reviewers agree with me about the quality of the Garnier Summer Body Gradual Tan Moisturiser It has 79% five star reviews. One person said: “I've received plenty of compliments at work about how easily I 'catch the sun'. If only they knew! This last a good week of showering before it needs to be reapplied. Dries streak/patchy free as long as you are careful when applying.”
Echoing my thoughts, someone else wrote: “This builds a lovely subtle colour and looks completely natural. Smells nice and leaves my legs lovely and soft.”
People who have not given it a perfect five star review said this was because they did not like the smell. But, I love it. So, that just goes to show that some things will always be down to personal preference.
I would highly recommend that you give Garnier Summer Body Gradual Tan Moisturiser a go and make your mind up for yourself, especially while it’s in the sale which such a fantastic discount.
