Karcher’s flagship pressure washer delivers near-professional power with smart control - and it’s currently reduced
Instantly recognisable in bright yellow and black, Karcher is one of the biggest names in pressure washing. You can pick up an entry-level model like the K 2 Compact for around £69 – perfectly capable for light jobs.
But what happens if you go all-in and choose the most powerful domestic machine in the range?
That would be the K 7 Premium Smart Control Flex. It’s Karcher’s flagship home pressure washer, currently priced at £479.99 (with an RRP of £599), and it’s so feature-packed it even connects to an app.
On paper, it’s seriously impressive. You get 180 bar of pressure, a 550-litre-per-hour flow rate, a generous 10-metre hose and a telescopic handle. The “Smart Control” part means it connects via Bluetooth to Karcher’s Home & Garden app, and there’s a digital control panel built into the lance, allowing you to adjust power levels on the fly.

After a long, damp autumn and winter, my patio slabs were looking particularly sorry for themselves, so the K 7 went straight to work. Setup was refreshingly simple. The lance connected quickly, the hose adaptor screwed on easily, and the control panel paired with the app in moments.
When I flicked the switch, it sprang into life with astonishing force. I genuinely wasn’t prepared for just how powerful it felt. A quick tap on the plus and minus buttons on the lance lets you dial it back, which is just as well.
Once adjusted, I aimed it at the slabs, switched the nozzle to the flat setting and got started.
I’ve used plenty of pressure washers over the years, but the K 7 is on another level. It tore through baked-on algae with ease. Its pressure and flow rate are only slightly below Karcher’s professional machines, and you can feel that difference in performance.

One of the most useful features turned out to be the digital control panel. It might sound like a gimmick at first, but being able to instantly adjust the power is incredibly practical.
Full force is perfect for heavy grime, but for jobs like cleaning a bike, patio furniture or fencing, you can turn it down to avoid stripping paint or damaging surfaces.
The app, if I’m honest, is less essential. It’s handy for setup guidance and offers tips and troubleshooting, but once everything is running, you’re unlikely to use it much. Some users will appreciate the walkthrough and support features, though.
The K 7 is compatible with Karcher’s premium accessories, including surface cleaners and the Plug and Clean detergent system. Even without those extras, as a standalone pressure washer it’s hugely capable.

It is heavy, so that’s worth considering if you have steps to contend with. That said, the suitcase-style telescopic handle makes it easier to manoeuvre, and the hose reel keeps everything tidy when you’re done.
At full price, £599 is a serious investment for a garden tool. At £479.99, it feels far more justifiable – particularly if you want the best domestic pressure washer Karcher makes.
A cheaper model like the K 2 Compact will handle lighter jobs, but it simply doesn’t deliver the same speed or deep-cleaning power. With 110 bar, it’ll take longer and require more effort on stubborn surfaces. And you won’t get the digital control panel either, which genuinely makes a difference when switching between heavy-duty and delicate tasks.
If you want sheer performance, smart control and the ability to blast through tough grime quickly, the K 7 Premium Smart Control Flex delivers. It’s powerful, built to last and makes short work of big jobs.
