Alan Davidson will be man to beat at 500 Motor Racing Club of Ireland event

Formula Fords and Ford Fiestas are set to provide a giant helping of the entertainment on Saturday as the 500 Motor Racing Club of Ireland stages the fourth car race meeting of the 2016 season at the County Down venue.

The regular Northern Ireland Formula Ford 1600 Championship will feature two rounds and an extra bonus for fans; a race for Pre 90 cars.

In the Northern Ireland Formula Ford 1600 Championship Noel Robinson tops the leaderboard with five wins at Kirkistown; however the ex-footballer will be missing from the line-up this time.

This could see Alan Davidson take a haul of points as he has been the main competition to Robinson this season. Jake Byrne being a winner early in the season and a driver to watch is the ever improving Ryan Campbell. With a healthy number of Pre 90 cars in Ireland the organisers were approached to stage a race for them.

Last time out 24 Ford Fiestas lined up for two action packed races, so expect the same. Roy Smyth has done an outstanding job in building the class up to such numbers and race winners to date, Adrian Finnegan, Ben McCully and Jonny Forsythe.

Fans will see BMW, Honda and SEAT on the grid for two Kirkistown Saloon races and the drivers who have featured this season,

Ralph Jess (BMW), Andrew Armstrong (BMW) and Stephen Traub (Honda).

Ginetta Juniors a class for newcomers to motor racing and with two races we could just see a star or stars of the future in action.

Adding to a busy programme, three races for karts featuring 125 and 250cc machines.
