ATHLETICS: Judith Lonnen shows her class to claim RunHer Women's Only Coastal Challenge win

Judith Lonnen showed her class with victory in the RunHer Women's Only Coastal Challenge from Holywood to Crawfordsburn.

The duathlon international from the City of Lisburn club looked to be in control from the start as she won from Cathy McCourt who had taken first place at Ballybeen three days before. Lyndsey Tyro continued her good season in third.

Jessica Craig makes a habit of winning at this meeting and she continued by heading a North Down clean sweep in the 5K event held at the same time.

She came in a minute before Les Jones winner Jodi Smith with Sarah Lindsay just outsprinting Amy Bulman for fourth. Amy was having her third race in four days. There 866 finishers in the 10K and 249 in the 5K.

p Amy Bulman had her fourth race in five days when she came second in the Jen Gana 10K at Shanes Castle Estate. She finished 15 seconds behind former Northern Ireland champion Suzanne Higgins with Julie Murphy third.

The Men’s race went to Dennis Scott of North Down who regained his title.

p Jamie Budde gave North Down another victory when he dominated the Albertville 4 Miles Road Race at Duncrue Industrial Estate. Newry AC runner Esther Dickson took the Ladies after a battle with Laura Bickerstaff.
