ATHLETICSS: Ciara Mageean and Ben Reynolds are top draws at Mary Peters track

Twenty-four-year-old Ciara, already qualified for the Rio Olympic 1500, makes a rare appearance over the two-lap distance and can go close to the Northern Ireland record.

The opposition will include World Master champion Kelly Neely, Katie Kirk and Erin McIlveen.

Reynolds runs his first high hurdles race of the season and should get the European qualification of 13.90. He will face Euro Indoor competitor Gerard O’Donnell and British third place finisher Jake Porter.

Double European champion David Gillick returns to competition here in the 400 against Craig Lynch with a best of 47.04, Irish Universities champion Aaron Mellon and Irish Schools champion Chris O’Donnell.

Jonathan Browning should take the 100 while triple 400 winner Adam McComb goes at 200. Commonwealth athlete Danny Mooney competes against Conor Bradley and Gareth Hill at 1500.

Katie Kirk and Erin McIlveen are also in the 400, Rachel Gibson should take the 1500 while Catherine Whoriskey can add the 5,000 title to her 10,000 crown.

In the Women’s 100, Amy Foster will win if she competes, with Cork runner Joan Healy fancied otherwise.

In the field, 58.39 metres hammer thrower Hayley Murray should take her fourth consecutive crown, Cathy Hetherington can win the discus with Anna McIlmoyle tops at high jump.

Adam McMullan and Alan Kennedy should win the long and triple jumps with Andrew Barkley fancied in the discus. Young John Kelly has gold chances at shot and hammer as has Sean McBride at javelin.

Another young star Jack Agnew can triumph in the wheelchairs ahead of Jim Corbett and Paul Hannon.
