Carl Frampton eyes 2016 showdown with Scott Quigg
Carl Frampton has said he is unlikely to fight key rival Scott Quigg in Belfast as the IBF super-bantamweight world champion revealed he won’t box again until 2016.
Frampton is now focused on finally taking on Quigg in a massive domestic showdown in the early part of next year after negotiations reopened with the WBA title-holder.
Talks are on-going over financial issues and the venue for the fight but Frampton said he is ‘optimistic’ the bout will take place.
“I’m confident and optimistic that the fight can be made - whatever it takes, I’m ready,” said Frampton.
“It’s the fight which whets my appetite the most. I would be happy to fight him anywhere but is it fair for the champion to travel to Manchester to fight the challenger? I don’t think it is.

“I’m happy to go somewhere neutral, maybe London or Birmingham,” he added in an interview with BBC NI.
“I don’t think we are going to push for Belfast because I don’t think he would come here.”
Frampton defeated Alejandro Gonzalez on points after a scare in his last title defence on his American debut in July while Quigg, who hails from Bury, knocked out Kiko Martinez, also in July.
