City of Derry coach is taking nothing for granted

Derry face a tricky trip to fourth placed Greystones and McMaster is hoping his team perform better than they did when the sides met earlier in the season

“With six games left and if we don’t win any of them somebody could potential gain 30 points on us, until it’s mathematically impossible for someone to catch us we won’t be popping any champagne corks. We’re just going to concentrate on the next task in hand which is Greystones away,” said McMaster.

“Apart from Highfield who beat us - Greystones ran us the closest, the last game we played was a one score game and it was probably our worst performance of the season.

“We reviewed that game on Tuesday night and we were disappointed.”

Greystone are pushing for a playoff spot.

“They are sitting fourth at the moment, they have got Armagh only three points behind them, they are going for a top four spot and will come out with all guns blazing, we have to go down there with away game mentality, the crowd will be against us and the forecast isn’t great so we have to be physically and mentally prepared.”

“Hopefully we can go down there with a game plan that we can execute and bring something back up the road.”

Out half Richard McCarter and centre David Funston return after missing last week’s win over Rainey, scrum half Andrew Semple faces a fitness test with Simon Logue set to deputise.

There is a crucial Ulster derby at Stevenson Park as Dungannon host Rainey.

Both sides are locked on 20 points with Rainey in the playoff relegation playoff spot on points different.

Gannon have lost their last two games and coach Andy Hughes is without five players due to injury and another three face fitness test.

Armagh are three points of the playoff places and will look to complete a league double over Barnhall.
