Simply the new Subaru Levorgs which the team has switched to for the 2016 season were not ready leaving Turkington, Jason Plato, Warren Scott and James Cole on the sideline.

One car was on show at Donington but the team opted not to run the car.

“It is disappointing not to run but I am confident that it is worth waiting on.

“We want to make sure everything is spot on and with something as important as this it is vital that we make sure it is right.

“There is no point in rushing the job and not getting it right.

“We believe it will be a great car for the season that lies ahead and we cannot wait to get started.

“Of course we will get some running in before the first race weekend which is at Brands Hatch on 2/3 April,” commented Turkington.

The new Subaru features a high level of engineering and the team wanted to make sure everything was right before the car took to the circuit.

There have been a few minor delays with some parts and so the decision was taken to wait until later in this week to run the cars.

The team has just one two-litre turbocharged car fully built and is working extremely hard to complete the next three Levorgs.

Last season Team BMW ran four VW Passat CCs and the switch to Subaru only came a few weeks ago, thus leaving them with a mountain to climb.

Meanwhile all eyes will be on Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher.

He will be moving up from the Ginetta series to the British Touring Car Championship and best known as Andy Sugden in the popular tv soap he will driving for Power Maxed Racing and as the season goes on we will see if he as good a driver as he is an actor?
