After picking up their first Robinson Services Cup win of the season last weekend, Lisburn captain Adam Berry is looking for his side to put in another couple of strong performances with an eye on next year.

The Wallace Park side eased past Carrickfergus by six wickets, chasing down a target of 91 with 23 balls to spare.

With the season having not gone to plan so far in terms of results, Berry was delighted to be rewarded for the progress his squad have made in the space of five matches.

“It was great to get a win Saturday and especially in the Park,” he said.

“We let ourselves down game one against Woodvale so it really was about showing how far we had come since then.

“The performance with the bat, ball and in the field is something we will be looking to carry on.”

Berry has led by example with the bat, top-scoring in five of Lisburn’s seven matches this season, including 46 against Waringstown and 33 from 24 deliveries last Saturday.

“It’s always nice to get some runs and contribute,” he added.

“Without Faiz (Fazal, overseas professional) in the team it just means we all have to step up and with the whole COVID situation it’s meant I haven’t had to travel with work so can train all week, which has made a big difference.

“All the guys have been training hard during the week and I think it was just a matter of time before we put in a good team performance after showing some positive signs at The Lawn.”

Two 17-year-olds in Cameron Doak and Matthew Humphreys were standout performers in the victory with the former collecting figures of 2-9.

Winter signing Humphreys, who is captain of the NCU U17 side, scored 24 runs batting at number three after picking up two wickets.

“Saturday was a great day for Cameron playing in the Park with his brother (Nathan) also in the team,” said Berry.

“The Doak family do so much behind the scenes for the club so it was a special day for the whole family and a credit to Cameron for the hard work he’s put in.

“Humph has been a great addition.

“Left-arm spin in the Premier League always seems to do well and he’s contributing each week. All the new faces have fit in really well.”

Lisburn now face North Down in the final fixture following yesterday’s decision to cancel the scheduled weekend game with Instonians.

Berry spoke ahead of the Instonians decision about how his players’ plan was to tackle the ‘tough challenges’ ahead with the target of looking to ‘continue to build towards next season’.

Other RSC fixtures on the schedule are as follows: Carrickfergus vs Waringstown, CSNI vs Woodvale.
