Alan O'Sullivan scores late winner to see off Ards in Danske Bank Premiership

Warrenpoint Town claimed three vital Danske Bank Premiership points as they beat Ards 1-0 at the Q Radio Arena.

The winner however didn't arrive until the 90th minute through Alan O'Sullivan and that strike will be a body blow to Ards as there was very little between the sides throughout the encounter.

The result means that Warrenpoint are unbeaten in the league in their last five games, while Ards will have to start picking up points as soon as possible.

Ards had a chance in the opening seconds as Mark Kelly's shot was well saved by Aaron McCarey in the Warrenpoint goal.

The home side had their first real chance in the 19th minute as Ciaran O'Connor's effort was deflected wide.

Warrenpoint had another chance in the 33rd minute but Phillip Donnelly was well off target after being put through.

Robbie Norton pushed his chance wide as the home side pushed for the opener in the 38th minute.

Eamonn Scannell tried his luck before Samuel Johnstone made a flying save to deny Donnelly.

Warrenpoint started brightly as they tried to trap the visitors in their own half.

Ards had a good chance in the 57th minute as Mark Kelly drilled a shot wide with the keeper beaten after being slid in.

The home side had a couple of chances 66th minute as first Mark Griffan and Matty Lynch tried there luck - but both were denied by the Ards defence.

Warrenpoint's O'Connor tried his luck but his shot drifted just off target in the 74th minute.

It looked as if the first team to score would win this one and both sides were pushing for that vital goal.

It was 1-0 in the 90th minute for the home side as O'Connor did very well and O'Sullivan scored at the second attempt.
