Ards boss Colin Nixon hopes his side can stun Warrenpoint

Nixon’s side will be missing at least eight players for the trip and the manager is hoping he has a full squad to pick from sooner rather than later.

“The have been doing rightly and every team in this league has improved and there is a better standard than last year.

“It’s going to be tough for us and it would be brilliant if we could get a resukt down thee.

“But the injury crisis for us has got worse for us this week and I know I am always moaning about injuries but it’s really bad at the minute .

“But as I have said before we got have to get our heads down and work through it and hopefully get a result down at Warrenpoint,” said Nixon.

And Nixon says he was not too downbeat after losing to Institute 1-0 with the last kick of the game in their last league fixture.

“That is just football. Institute came down here and we had players missing and I still thought we should have taken the lead during the game but every attacking player is injured so we found that difficult.

“We can’t score goals and we were sucker punched at the very end. It was poor from us because we had defended so well and it was disappointing.

“But we had to pick ourselves and we had a good win during the week there in the League Cup against Dergview.

“People probable thought is was a bit of a banana skin for us but did well and now we roll on to Warrenpoint.”

And Warrenpoint will look to get back to winning ways after a League cup defeat to Dungannon Swifts during the week.

But before that Stephen McDonnell’s side were unbeaten in their previous three league matches and the Point manager is looking to keep his side moving in the right direction in the league.

“It’s a huge game against Ards and we will have to be looking to take three points off them.

“They are a good side and it will be a tough game for us. I thought we were super against Dungannon during the week in the League Cup even though we lost and the goals we conceded were down to basic mistakes.

“Two throw-ins for the second and third goals, and their first goal came from us not securing the ball.

“I was disappointed with that but I thought we were very good on the night.

“Performance wise I was pleased but result wise it wasn’t good enough.”
