The Sky Blues will still be hurting after Saturday’s opening day 6-0 defeat to Crusaders at Seaview and United manager David Jeffrey will be hoping to get the first points on the board for the new season.

“The blessing is we have a quick turn around from the Crusaders defeat, even though it be Glenavon - who won 4-0 on Saturday. They are an impressive side and I keep saying to myself. Ten years ago where were Crusaders? Where were Cliftonville? Where were Glenavon?

“They were probable on the receiving end of 6-0 defeats like this and look were they are now.

“It is going to be a tough job against Glenavon as Gary Hamilton has gathered a good sqaud there. It is going to be a long road - but it is one that I have enjoyed up to now and am working very hard at.

“We have a few guys back for the match and that will add to what we have.

“Willie Faulkner, Eoin Kane and Kyle McVey may all come into the squad for the match,” added the United boss.
