Independent lead appointed in Ibrox trouble review following Old Firm Scottish Cup tie
The Scottish Football Association has appointed a sports event consultant to lead its investigation into the pitch invasions and trouble that followed Celtic’s Scottish Cup win at Ibrox.
Durham-based Mark Blackbourne will lead the review, which will focus on the events and decisions made inside and outside of the stadium before, during and after the quarter-final on March 8.
The SFA described Blackbourne as a “vastly experienced sports event consultant who continues to lead on match operations at major club and international competitions under UEFA and FIFA jurisdiction”.
The governing body added that Blackbourne had begun the review process with a meeting involving Rangers, Celtic, Police Scotland and the SFA.
