Scotland goalkeeper Liam Kelly signs new two-year deal at Rangers

Back-up goalkeeper and “consummate professional” Liam Kelly has signed a new two-year deal with Rangers.

The 30-year-old, who arrived at Ibrox on a two-year contract from Motherwell in 2024, has agreed an extension until 2028.

Kelly, currently in America with Scotland preparing for the World Cup, told Gers’ website: “I’m delighted to extend my stay here at Rangers.

“Coming back to the club has been a special experience and I love being here. We’ve got a really strong and competitive goalkeeping department, which pushes us all to improve every day, and it’s certainly an environment I enjoy being part of.

“It’s exciting to commit to what the club is desperate to achieve, and I’m looking forward to continuing to work as hard as I can with my team-mates to do our utmost to create special memories for our fans in the years ahead.”

Kelly, who began his career at Rangers before joining Livingston in 2018, has made 16 appearances while playing understudy to Jack Butland over the past two seasons.

“We’re thrilled that Liam has signed a contract extension,” said manager Danny Rohl.

“He is a consummate professional who sets a brilliant example in his everyday work. Whether it’s on the pitch, on the training ground or supporting his team-mates behind the scenes, his attitude and commitment never waver.

“Liam’s experience and knowledge of this football club are invaluable. He understands exactly what it means to represent the badge, and we’re pleased that he’ll continue to play a key role as we look to achieve our goals.”
