O’Flynn this week signed for the Mallards to the end of the season.

The 33-year-old striker will then move to Glentoran after agreeing a pre-contract with the Oval club.

Before then the former Institute and Crusaders hit-man will be hoping to help Ballinamallard climb the table.

“We are delighted to get Stephen on board,” Anderson said.

“We have been lacking goals this season, and Stephen is a proven goalscorer.

“So we hope he can get help us in attack, and also link-up play as well. He is a very talented striker and hopefully this move will give him a lift.”

O’Flynn found his first-team opportunities limited at Crusaders, forcing the striker to ask to be placed on the transfer list.

But Mallards boss Anderson is confident his new arrival can hit the ground running at Ferney Park – starting with Saturday’s visit of Ballymena United.

“I am pleased with the signings we have made in January. With the likes of Stephen and Ivan Sproule here, we should be able to create plenty of chances,” Anderson said.

“If we do that then I am confident the goals will follow. The aim is to keep Ballinamallard in the Premiership, so we need to start winning games and getting points on the board. We know we are in a relegation scrap, so we have to knuckle down and work hard.”
