The midfielder announced his retirement on Wednesday following 15 years at Solitude.

McMullan – the most decorated player in Cliftonville’s history – captained the Reds to historic back-to-back Premiership titles wins in 2013 and ‘14.

The 34-year-old also claiming five League Cup medals and four County Antrim Shields.

McMullan made his debut in a 2-0 win over Crusaders on December 11, 2001 and bagged 103 goals in 544 appearances for the Reds.

“I actually played the same night he made his debut, which shows how long he’s been at Cliftonville,” said manager Gerard Lyttle.

“He’s been an absolute inspiration to everyone, reflected in the trophies he’s collected and all the stand-out performances he’s delivered over the years.”

Club chairman Gerard Lawlor added: “I’m saddened we will not see him represent Cliftonville again but, at the same time, I feel privileged to have seen him play for us these last 15 years. He lived the dream, but we all enjoyed being a part of it.”
