IRISH LEAGUE: Play it again says Carrick boss Gary Haveron

The Rangers produced their best performance of the season to defeat current champions and Danske Premiership table toppers, Crusaders, on a night of East Antrim drama.

But the 4-3 victory came at a price as Rangers skipper Aaron Harmon was dismissed, along with his boss!

Glens manager Alan Kernaghan was in the crowd and cannot be anything other than impressed with Haveron’s boys.

“There is no point in beating the champions and not backing it up with another display of passion and commitment,” said Haveron. “The result has to be the launch pad for the remainder of the season. We can’t afford to rest on that performance. I know Alan watched us in midweek and I’m sure he’ll have his team revved up, but we must focus on our performance.”

Teenager Adam Sally bagged his first goal since moving to Rangers on loan form Linfield and Haveron reckons there are more to come.

He added: “Adam has great pace and power. He is the sort of player that can hurt teams. That’s exactly what he did against the Crues. He scored a wonder goal . . . it was a great hit. He also set up up Harmon’s goal on a plate.

“On that performance, I believe he can go back to Linfield and really stake a claim for a place in their team -- that’s if we can’t get him again next season."
