The victory lifts the Fermanagh men up to ninth place in the Danske Bank Premiership table.

Ballymena manager Glenn Ferguson was scathing of his players after the final whistle, saying he was bitterly disappointed with the result and his side’s performance.

“I’m actually embarrassed by our standard of defending today. I’ve told the boys that. There weren’t too many people who did what they were meant to do today,” he said.

“You can’t come to places like Ballinamallard which is always difficult, score two goals and come away with nothing from the game.Our defending was just poor today.”

James Mckenna scored the opener on 31 minutes before new signing Stephen O’Flynn doubled the lead with a deflected free-kick.

Matthew Tipton headed a goal back for Ballymena after the restart but goals from Ryan Campbell and Jason McCartney – from the penalty spot – completed the win for the Mallards.

“The new signings were a big plus for us today, I just thought overall it was a really good performance apart from the two goals we conceded. But we got three points and that’s important,” boss Whitey Anderson said.
