“I wish to announce that we’ve agreed to a request from Andy Todd to leave his role as assistant manager at the club with immediate effect, to take up a similar position at Newport County.

“I’m naturally disappointed to be losing Andy but obviously with this week’s managerial change at Newport, its a great opportunity for him to be working again with Warren Feeney who brought him to Linfield.

“The club wouldn’t want to stand in his way of a return to full time football on the mainland and we all just want to wish him every success in his new appointment.

“I want to thank him for all his efforts in my time here and on behalf of the club, I want to thank him for his service during the 18 months or so he spent here.

“I know he greatly enjoyed his time with the club but I understand and respect that this was just too good an opportunity for him to turn down.

“Andy said his farewells to the players at training on Thursday night and he made a very nice and sincere speech in which he thanked everyone for all their co-operation with him during his time at the club.

“He also reminded them that they were all very good players and they had a lot to play for and achieve in the remaining months of the season.

“I will be continue to be assisted by first team coach Alfie Wylie, as well as Ross Oliver who’s been with me since I was appointed manager.

“Ross is a good coach who I respect and who has worked with various underage IFA teams. Alfie Wylie is of course an experienced coach who has served the club for many years.”
