Linfield striker Kieran Offord ruled out for rest of season
Linfield striker Kieran Offord is set to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on his ankle.
The 21-year-old Scot had only recently returned to action following a four-month layoff, coming off the bench during Linfield’s 3-1 victory over Portadown earlier this month.

Offord’s comeback, however, was short-lived as he was forced off the pitch just 13 minutes after his introduction, following a challenge from Lewis MacKinnon.
Offord was absent from Linfield’s BetMcLean Cup final triumph over Glentoran, with the club later confirming that the striker’s operation went well. His recovery means he will not feature again this season.
In a statement, the Blues said it was a “hugely disappointing setback” for the young marksman.
“This is a hugely disappointing setback for him after the tremendous effort he put into recovering from his previous injury,” the statement read.
"Everyone at the club is fully behind Kieran, and we have no doubt that with his determination and professionalism, he will return stronger and back to his very best.
“We wish him every success in his recovery and rehabilitation.”
Linfield manager David Healy hit out following the challenge on Offord during the Irish Premiership clash against Portadown at Windsor Park on March 10, saying he would no longer engage in the annual pre-season meeting with officials, which he labelled a “pointless exercise.”
“We sit down with the referees at the start of the season and we go through the previous season – what’s going to be outlawed, the challenges, what is going to be banned, straight legs, forceful, intensity, the follow through and whatever else,” Healy told the club’s media channel.
“I’m actually not doing it next year. I’m going to ban the referees from coming because it’s a pointless exercise.
“It’s a waste of time for the 45 minutes for the players and I’m certainly not wasting my time next year sitting down with a referee to go through decisions and discussions on what’s a yellow card last year and what will be a red this year when you see a decision like that.”
Offord joined Linfield from St Mirren in January 2025, having caught the eye during a loan spell with Crusaders.
He started the current campaign in sensational form, scoring three goals in six Conference League qualifying matches.
Offord also netted a hat-trick in Linfield’s opening league match of the season against Dungannon Swifts and followed it up with a winner at home to Cliftonville, but he now faces a further spell on the sidelines after this latest injury setback.
Linfield, who travel to Carrick Rangers on Friday evening, are currently fourth in the Irish Premiership, eight points adrift of leaders Larne.
