Michael O'Neill fully focused on Euro 2016 '“ not Celtic speculation

O’Neill is one of a raft of names in the running to take over from Ronny Deila who will quit the Hoops in the summer.

Former Hibernian and Dundee United midfielder O’Neill signed a new four-year deal with the Irish FA last month.

He is now preparing to take Northern Ireland to their first-ever European Championship, and their first major tournament in 30 years.

And the 46-year-old insists his sole focus is on this summer’s showpiece in France.

“I think part of (being linked with the Celtic job) comes down to the fact that I live in Scotland,” O’Neill told Sky Sports.

“There are a number of names that have been linked with that job and it is a fantastic job.

“I felt that the right thing to do for me was to commit to Northern Ireland leading into the finals and I don’t want to do anything to take that special relationship away.

“If we perform well, it will enhance my reputation and then we’ll see what happens after that.”

Other names being linked with the Celtic post include former Northern Ireland midfielder Neil Lennon and ex-Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers.

Roy Keane and David Moyes are two other names that have been thrown in the hat.
