New Dungannon Swifts boss Kris Lindsay wants his side to get points on the board

The Swifts lie 11th in the league standings, while Warrenpoint are bottom in 12th.

Lindsay saw positives last weekend against Glenavon - even though they lost 2-1 - but he knows they need something from the clash with Warrenpoint if they wish to move up the league standings.

“We did well against Glenavon last weekend and we must take that performance with us against Warrenpoint.

“We have to play for 90 minutes and get the three points.

“We can take loads of positives from the Glenavon game and we will now move forward and take on Warrenpoint.

“And we need to be stringing a few results together and get a couple of victories to move up the table.

“I have told the players we are looking up and not down and we have the quality and ability to start moving up.

“But Warrenpoint are in the same position as ourselves but we want to win the game and get a very important three points.”

And Lindsay says he is enjoying life in the hot-seat after many years of coaching in the background.

“I really enjoyed the game against Glenavon. I had only been with the boys for one training session before that game to work on things.

“I thought the boys put in a great shift against Glenavon and there is quality in the team.

“There were positives from the performance against Glenavon and I was really pleased with them, but we have to start winning games,” added Lindsay.

And Warrenpoint boss Stephen McDonnell wants his side to build on last weekend’s draw with Glentoran.

“We were worthy of a win against Glentoran - and against Newry he week before,” he said.

“But the main thing is that we stopped the rot of defeats. We’ve had four positive results in the last three weeks.

“The guys are really stepping up now.

“They have a clear understanding of what is expected of them as individuals before they bring it together collectively as a team.

“But it only takes one chink in the chain to break it all down.

“Yet I think we have them all singing off the same hymn sheet at the moment.

“We go to Dungannon looking something from the game. This is a big game and we are ready for the challenge,” he added.
