It has been a frustrating season for most so far as players come to terms with the football in the midst of a pandemic.

The local game has been stop-start of late as restrictions were implemented to try and slow down the spread of the virus.

For Coleraine defender Adam Mullan though it has been stop-stop as he has yet to kick a ball in anger this term.

The Limavady man is continuing his rehab work following a knee injury and is hoping that it won’t be too long before he is back in action again.

And with testing now taking place in the Danske Bank Premiership Mullan is also hoping that there will be no more breaks in action.

“It’s like starting a new season all over again,” he told the club website.

“You play a bit, then don’t train, then play again. You lose match sharpness but it’s the same for everyone.

“These are hard times for everyone because of the pandemic.

“From a football perspective it’s been very stop start but the testing should help and everyone will feel safer.”

The Bannsiders will be hoping the latest enforced break does not impact on their recent run of good form.

Three wins on the bounce with only one goal conceded has seen Oran Kearney’s men climb the table again.

And with the injury list clearing up bar Mullan and Ben Doherty they will be hoping that they can keep the momentum going.

“We were just starting to build a bit of momentum before the latest break,” the defender continued.

“A lot of the injured players are available now.

“It’s good to see Josh (Carson) back and that only really leaves myself and Ben out and I wish him a speedy recovery.

“There’s two good players for every position and that’s what you want.

“We look strong in every position now, everyone is working hard and confidence is high again.”

The Bannsiders entertain Dungannon Swifts at The Showgrounds today hoping to avenge their defeat at Stamgmore Park back in December.

That was Coleraine’s last defeat in the league as they went down 2-0 to Kris Lindsay’s side on the night.

Today’s game kicks off a busy sequence for Kearney’s men with ten games coming up in the next five weeks.
