The 21-year-old broke his tibia and fibula in a challenge in last week’s defeat at Coleraine.

The defender is on loan at The Oval from League Two side Barrow until the end of January.

But Head Coach Mick McDermott said the Glens and Burns’ parent club have agreed that the former Hearts man will continue his rehab in Northern Ireland.

McDermott said all parties felt is was best for the player to remain at home as he begins his long journey back to full fitness.

“Bobby has had the double fracture repaired at the start of the week,” said McDermott.

“He’ll be ready to go again next season.

“Bobby was on loan with us until January with an option to see out the season.

“Technically though he’s a Barrow player.

“But we have come to an agreement that he will stay here with us for his rehabilitation because Barrow is not a big club in terms of facilities and resources.

“Having Bobby sitting over there in a hotel wouldn’t be good for him or for Barrow.

“He’s going to be out of football for a while but he is at home and he will have facilities he can use here.

“When you’re at that early stage of rehab you’re just training around the injury, part of that is also your brain, you have to keep your head right.

“It’s good to be around your family and people you know.”
