Cliftonville and Newry City AFC thank NHS staff by offering free admission to games

Cliftonville Football Club have granted all NHS staff free admission to their five remaining home games in the 2019/20 season.

Paddy McLaughlin’s side had been scheduled to host Warrenpoint Town in their final fixture of the Danske Bank Premiership’s pre-split programme ahead of a further four matches at Solitude during the closing weeks of the campaign.

The Reds announced on their website that they would like to “express our gratitude to those bravely working on the front lines” by offering free admission to the games once the season recommences.

The statement said: “The Club will be delighted to express our gratitude to those bravely working on the front lines by welcoming them to Solitude when it is safe for the season to resume and will communicate further details of this offer when the fixtures have been ratified.”

Championship club Newry City AFC have also announced their gratitude for the staff of the NHS by announcing free admission to all their games next season for those with a valid NHS ID.

The club tweeted: “Since we all need something to look forward to and our brilliant #NHS staff more than most we have decided to provide free admission for them to all next season’s home games. As a club we feel it’s the least we can do.”
