Curtis Allen's season is over after his Glentoran contract expires

Curtis Allen's season is over after the player was told that Glentoran would not be extending his current contract, meaning his loan deal at Coleraine has now expired.

The striker, who will join the Bannsiders in a permanent deal from next season, has been on-loan at The Showgrounds since the end of January.

But because Allen is now technically a free agent Oran Kearney cannot extend the loan deal, the knock-on effect is that 32-year-old cannot now play in the Irish Cup semi-final against Ballymena United.

Allen took to social media to vent his frustration after he was told of the Glens' decision.

He tweeted: "I’m lost for words..."

If his contract had been extended until the end of the current season by The Oval outfit Allen would still have been ineligible to play against Mick McDermott's side if the two teams had made it through to the final due to the terms of the loan deal.
