The midfielder, whose father Tony played in the Irish League for Coleraine and Linfield, joins the Glens after seven years in English football.

The 24-year-old former Northern Ireland international said the opportunity to carry on as a full-time player was a big factor in his decision.

“I’m happy to get it all done now, it has been in the process for a while, I’m looking forward to starting now,” he told the club website.

“I was at Stevenage for five years before two years at Leyton Orient, and most recently I was on-loan at Newport County.

“I enjoyed my time in England, coming back here I wanted to stay in full-time football and Glentoran provides that for me.

“After I was released from my last club the Glens got in contact with me and things progressed from there.

“Glentoran are one of the biggest clubs in Ireland and I’m coming back to play full-time football, be successful and win trophies.

“Still being in full-time football was a big factor for me because some people look at coming to Ireland from England to play football as a step back.

“I don’t see it like that at all and hopefully my career can kick on for the better.

“I always kept an eye on the Irish League and League of Ireland when I was away.

“The league is getting better every year, the standard is improving, and I just think it’s a great place to play football.”

Gorman has made over one hundred first team appearances in the Football League, and Glentoran boss Mick McDermott is delighted to add Gorman to his squad.

“We are absolutely delighted to add Dale to our team,” he said.

“He meets the criteria of what we are looking for - he is full-time, fit, young and possesses great football ability.

“Dale has performed well in League 2 the past few seasons; we know he will bring that level of professionalism and consistency to our club.”
