They struggled to impose themselves in the first half playing against the wind.

Things improved after the break as they dominated possession, but Sam Johnston didn’t have too many saves to make.

In the end the Swifts were good value for their victory as they produced a strong defensive performance to nullify any threat from the Bannsiders.

It was the hosts who made the brighter start to the game as Rhyss Campbell tried his luck inside two minutes, but his effort was deflected away.

The Swifts though did grab the opener on 15 minutes.

A good break forward saw Daniel Hughes tee up Carvill on the edge of the box, and he produced an excellent finish to beat Gareth Deane.

Coleraine thought they had won a spot kick when Aaron Traynor went down in the box seemingly from Dylan King’s challenge.

But referee Christopher Morrison made a big call in booking the Bannsiders defender for simulation.

The visitors came out at the start of the second half with renewed purpose and almost drew level 30 second after the restart.

Former Swifts man Jamie Glackin raced through the home defence and beat goalkeeper Sam Johnston with a low shot, by Callum Byers did brilliantly to cover his keeper and hook the ball off the line.

The Dungannon keeper then did well to block a low shot from Aaron Jarvis after Ben Doherty’s corner was only half cleared.

James McLaughlin was next to try his luck but could only steer his effort wide of the target.

Oran Kearney decided to go to three at the back as he threw on Curtis Allen for defender Stephen O’Donnell.

The striker almost made an immediate impact as he was inches away from Bradley’s flick on from a long throw by Stewart Nixon.

Nixon then drew a save from Johnston after Doehrty had picked him out at the back post with a deep cross.

But just when it looked like the Bannsiders might level things up they were hit with a sucker punch with 11 minutes to go.

A slack pass by Traynor put McConaghie in trouble and he was robbed by Hughes.
